Mental Health
|
The mental health department is a major branch of the Neuroscience Center in King
Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam. The present level of staffing is three consultant
psychiatrists (one with child and adolescent subspecialty), two senior clinical
psychologists, two junior psychologists and one mental health social worker.
The
department provides inpatient consult-liaison services, outpatient services that
comprise of pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy and psychological testing.
In collaboration
with Neurosurgery, Neurology and other departments it forms an essential part in
establishing the epilepsy program that is a high caliber mission of the Neuroscience
Center.
The future plans are to provide a high quality and comprehensive treatment
interventions to the core competency services. And to be recognized by the Saudi
Council for Health Specialty as a training center for Saudi board of Psychiatry
in the consult-liaison services.
