Neurology
The neurology division is a major branch of the Neuroscience center. It started initially with the appointment of substantive neurologist two years ago as a neurology unit that was affiliated directly to the medical director. It, however, grew rapidly over the last two years by the expansion of the consultant and assistant consultant appointments. The present level of staffing is five neurology consultants (two epileptologist, two neuromuscular and one general with interest in stroke) two assistant consultants and trainee/services resident(s). There are three neurophysiology technicians and two medical secretaries.

The department provides comprehensive tertiary neurology services for the King Fahad Specialist Hospital. In collaboration with the Neurosurgery and other departments it forms an essential part in establishing the clinical program mainly the epilepsy and movement disorders programs that are the chief mission of one the targets of the neuroscience center.

The department of neurology been recognized by the Saudi Council for Health Specialty as a training center for Saudi board in the neurology and are already having training residents in program.

The future plan is to provide our high quality tertiary neurology care for the local population and to be a referral neurology center for the eastern province of Saudi Arabia.
